Why you should visit Beaver Mountain Resort

A popular local ski destination in northern Utah, Beaver Mountain Resort – or “The Beav” as it’s known to many – opened in 1939 and is still dependent on the natural snowfall on its mostly east-facing slopes.

About 110 miles from Salt Lake City, close to the Idaho border, Beaver Mountain Resort boasts 828 skiable acres that receive about 400 plus inches of snowfall annually.

The resort has a summit elevation of 8,860 feet, with a vertical drop of 1,700 feet, and runs that cater to all skill levels, not to mention two terrain parks. Night skiing is offered from 5 to 9 pm, and the snowsports school provides private and group lessons for all ages, as well as women’s only clinics and an adaptive ski program.

There is slope-side cafeteria-style dining at Beaver Mountain and a mountain yurt at the base of the slopes that can be rented out for overnight lodging – otherwise a wider range of accommodation can be found in the nearby towns of Logan or Bear Lake.

Beaver Mountain Resort is open from December to early April. While this resort doesn’t get as much snow as other Utah ski areas, there is ample powder well into the spring months, when skiers can take advantage of longer days and warmer temperatures. As always, avoid weekends and holidays for the least crowded slopes.
