Why you should visit Eagle Point Resort

Uncrowded slopes, affordable prices and Utah’s famed powder make Eagle Point Resort an excellent ski destination.

The privately owned resort – opened Friday to Sunday only – offers plenty of terrain for beginners to experts, with a 10,500-foot summit and a vertical drop of 1,500 feet. There’s also a “Lookout” warming cabin, with views of surrounding peaks – some more than 12,000 feet tall.

The 650-acre ski area can be found in southern Utah’s Tushar Mountains, about three hours from Las Vegas. Night skiing is not offered at the resort, though there are two transport snowcats for back-country skiing. There is a ski and snowboard rental shop located in the Skyline Lodge, as well as a snowsports school that offers private and group lessons, as well as specialty clinics.

There is slopeside dining at the Canyonside Lodge Bar & Grill and Eagle Point Resort also has ski-in/ski-out lodging.

Eagle Point Resort generally opens mid-December and closes at the end of March. While this is a weekend-only resort, the lack of crowds is one of the reasons this resort is a Utah favorite. February and March are known as the best months for powder.
